I am very happy to announce the Club's first fundraising activity of the year. We were able to secure a Team Canada Olympic hockey jersey, autographed by Sidney Crosby for the club to raffle off! How cool is that?
The raffle will be done in conjunction with a charity called Shoot for a Cure .. they are involved with spinal cord injuries and prevention mainly in hockey. We will be donating $1000.00 to the charity while they supply us with the Jersey.
The Executive's expectation is that each team member sell at least one booklet .. 25 tickets. But this is not a fixed number nor a qualification for being on the team. Do your best and if you have spares just give them back to me and I am sure we will find them a good home.
A portion of the proceeds raised will be allocated to funding our new great looking jerseys. There is a potential to reduce our jersey cost down to $40.00! The rest will go towards our practice sessions, subsidize out of town races, and team building activities that the Executives are busy planning.
I will be bringing booklets to Thursday’s dry land training sessions and other Yahoo events .. like the fitness tests. I can also make arrangements to get you a booklet some other way .. like meeting up downtown etc.
Again I am pretty excited to be able to do this with CDBC but we all need to contribute to make this a success.

P.S. Since I actually wrote this note and saw some of you at dry land training I only have a few booklets of tickets available. Sorry but it has been very popular! |
