Hi there my fellow Yahoos!
Hope this note finds you well today!
Just a note to talk about the upcoming (in less than four weeks!) the Lethbridge festival - June 26 & 27.
In case you didn't know I am the main organizer for this great festival and I have to say of all the ones I have done it is my favourite! They do an amazing job putting on an event that is fun for everyone. The venue is again Henderson Lake which is surrounded by a very nice park. You can view pretty much any point of the course without having to walk very far. The paddler's village is set up right beside the lake and we will be sharing a tent with another team like the last couple of years. There is plenty of shade from the numerous trees as well.
An added bonus is the large beer gardens which has live music pretty much through the festival. There are plenty of food vendors as well.
It is an extremely well run festival with tonnes of volunteers and it is well supported by the volunteers from the Rotary Club.
As Kelvin has mentioned before this has become the premier paddling event in Alberta. This year there will be the regular teams from Calgary, Edmonton and my friends from Pond Scum (Regina) will be there as well. Lethbridge always supplies a number of local teams as well and they have incredible spirit. The racing should be very competitive as well.
So .. are you ready to paddle like me? Please make sure you attend as many practices as you can prior to Lethbridge. We need to do a lot to get ready for this!
What I would like to know is who wants to come to this festival? I believe right now only a few people have committed to going by giving Karen payment for the festival fee. That fee incidentally is $65.00.
Please let me know ASAP if you are coming so I can get the formal planning started.

Hotels:
Right now I have rooms (doubles) booked at two hotels and both are within walking distance.

Coast Resorts - we stayed at it a few years ago when it was the Le Rancho. They have completed renovated it and it looks pretty nice.

The rooms are both $99.00 (plus taxes) a night so obviously sharing would cut the number down depending upon how many people are in it. Please let me know if you want to stay with the team or if you want to make other arrangements.
Travel:
Once we have a confirmed crew I'll be assisting in setting up rides for everyone based upon availability, departure time and location in the city.
Team Dinner:
We normally go out for a nice team dinner on the Saturday night. Stay tuned for details on this.
